FAQs
We at A Little Dream enjoy delivering meaningful and engaging performances for our clients. The musicians and singers we provide have all poured in years of hard work into their craft and are eager to share their music by engaging and educating the audience.
We approach each client interaction with a collaborative spirit and truly this has yielded enjoyable long-term relationships. The measures/clauses mentioned below are not designed to be confrontational or actively defensive against room for abuse, but to reduce or eliminate misunderstanding on either party’s side. We believe that once clarity of terms and arrangements have been established, there can be wriggle room for grace and generosity. It is with this spirit that we have firmly established ourselves as a trustworthy provider of live music entertainment services in Singapore for 20 years and running!
Q: Can we use the hotel/venue’s existing sound system instead?
If you have a sound equipment company providing the speakers, microphones and music instruments, then all we need to submit to you is our tech rider (list of equipment requirements).
Hotel ballroom/function room sound systems are designed for speeches and background music for seminars/conferences. Live music (high sound- pressure level instruments like drums, bass guitars etc.) require specialised expertise in handling to ensure no damage to the system is done.
We highly recommend renting a standalone sound system from our sound equipment vendor for the following reasons:
- Gear – Our vendor is able to provide specialised live music performance-related equipment such as music stands, music instruments, cables, accessories.
- Manpower/Training – Our vendors are able to provide professional sound engineers/crew who are able to balance the sound output (overall volume and balance between instruments)
- Liability – We would like to avoid the unfortunate event of finger-pointing/ allocation of blame should there be damage to the hotel’s sound system
If the hotel/venue has the experience, facilities/equipment and manpower to handle live music performances (e.g. pubs/clubs/cafes who already have regular live band performances), we are happy to integrate our performance requirements into their existing sound system. Indeed, there have been hybrid-arrangements whereby we provide the music instruments while the venue provides the speakers.
Q: Can we choose songs outside of the singer’s repertoire?
Yes but we would leave it to the singer to decide if they are able to do it (within their comfort zone of language, genre of music, vocal range, difficulty/complexity of the song etc.)
Ultimately the singer reserves the right to reject a song request due to various reasons such as:
- Song message/lyrics conflicting with the singer’s values/beliefs
- The singer feels they are unable to deliver the song to an acceptable performance standard etc.
Q: Can we split 2 sets of 45-minutes into 3 sets of 30-minutes? The total performance duration is still the same.
Yes, if the 90-minutes of performance on stage is completed within a 2-hour window.
Usual Timings:
Set 1: 8pm-8.45pm; Break: 30 Minutes
Set 2: 9.15pm-10pm; Band is released at 10pm
Customised Timing:
Set 1: 8pm-8.30pm; Break: 15 Minutes
Set 2: 8.45pm-9.15pm; Break: 15 Minutes
Set 3: 9.30pm-10pm; Band is released at 10pm
Our musicians give their all be it a 30-minute or 45-minute set and thus treasure their break time to recharge physically and emotionally. We hope to avoid a situation whereby the band set is interrupted by a game/lucky draw/ speech with 2 songs left to go and have to wait 20 minutes or more just to play the remaining 8 minutes.
Q: Can we combine 2 sets of 45-minutes into 1 set of 90 minutes?
Yes, if the musicians agree to it. Music performance is an emotionally and physically intensive activity and we would like to ensure that the band is able to sustain a high-quality level of performance throughout.
Q: Can we extend or add a set on the actual day performance?
Yes, if the musicians agree to it. This would be subject to their availability (some musicians might need to run off to the next performance) as well as energy levels (if they feel they are unable to provide the same level of performance, they might respectfully decline).
Additional sets would be chargeable. There are additional midnight surcharges should the event end beyond midnight.
Q: Can the band come down for an on-site preview performance?
On-site or off-site rehearsals and meetings are chargeable and subject to the availability of all parties involved.
Q: Do you have Christian performers to lead a worship service?
Yes we do. Please discuss Christian-related matters with our sales staff to ensure religious alignment for your event.
Q: Can my guests sing with the band?
This is usually something that can be done as long as it is properly managed. There are a few ground rules before proceeding:
- The client/couple needs to give explicit approval for guests wanting to sing.
- The guest has to be visibly in control of his/her behaviour i.e. the guest should not be drunk.
- The guest has to respect the personal space/boundaries of all performers on stage i.e. no physical contact (e.g. hugging, hand-on-shoulder etc.)
- No drinks (wine/beer)
